A Heartwarming Korean Drama Movie' Miracle'

If I had to pick the hottest male actor in South Korea these days, I think it would be actor Park Jung-min. At a domestic film festival, he thrilled many female fans with a collaborative stage performance with singer Hwasa, and today I’d like to review his romance film, Miracle. 


1 . The Plot 

In Jun-gyeong’s village, there are only railway tracks, not even a train station, and today he walked five hours again to go to school. Despite his father’s objections, he refuses to give up sending letters to the Blue House, and even Ra-hee, whom he met at school, joins forces with him—this train station-building project is impossible to abandon. Can his efforts really build a train station?


2. The Cast and Director 

Park Jung-min, a heartthrob, played Jun-kyung, and Lim Yoon-ah, famous as the visual center of the girl group Girls’ Generation, played Ra-hee. Lee Soo-kyung played Jun-kyung’s older sister, and the beloved actor Lee Sung-min played Jun-kyung’s father. The director is Lee Jang-hoon, who directed the film "Be With You," and he also participated in the screenplay of this work. 


3. What to watch for 

This film was inspired by Yangwon Station, the first privately funded station in Korea, but its characters and story are fictional. Since something similar actually happened, it seems a bit easier to get immersed in the film. And it is said that actor Lee Sung-min, who plays Jun-kyung’s father in the film, actually hails from Bonghwa, Gyeongbuk. I got the impression that the actor must have been deeply devoted and passionate while filming the movie. I also thought that Im Yoon-ah, famous as the center of the girl group Girls’ Generation, gave a wonderfully natural performance that played a strong supporting role in the film, so I thought it would be worthwhile to pay close attention to this part. Also, considering that the film’s setting is in the 1980s, it might be worthwhile to take a close look at their props and the backgrounds from their memories. 


4. Personal Review

 I went to the actual theater and watched this movie with my mother. I remember that the movie was released during the Thanksgiving holiday, so many people actually came to see it with their families.  If I were to sum it up in one line, I remember it being a beautiful, letter-paper-like film contained in a yellow envelope. The film flowed naturally like water throughout its runtime, and the actors’ understated performances were also very good.  I’ve always lived only in the city, so I was glad to be able to indirectly experience the inconveniences of rural life, something I had never encountered before.  I hope everyone watches the film Miracle, which is calm yet easy on the eyes, and also brings along the adorable romance between Jun-kyung and Ra-hee, and may miracles come to all of you.

A Korean Monster Thriller Movie 'The Host'

I don't really like movies that feature non-existent entities. However, the movie "The Host" was a film that completely changed that idea. It’s partly because it’s a film by director Bong Joon-ho, whom I admire, and partly because the monster’s appearance wasn’t overly childish.  1. The Plot  By the peaceful Han River riverside, Park Hee-bong, who runs a convenience store, and Park Kang-du, who helps his father, were spending time as usual.
