Korean heist crime Flim 'The Thieves'

If you want to see Korea’s most renowned actors in one film, I recommend the movie "The Thieves." It might be good to think of it as the Korean version of Ocean’s Eleven. Although the runtime is a bit long, I think it’s a work that is definitely worth watching. 

1. The Plot 
It is a crime thriller about ten professional thieves from Korea and China who struggle to steal a diamond called “Tears of the Sun,” which is in Macau’s Casino. 

2. The Cast and Director 
Among the main thieves in the film, Macau Park was played by actor Kim Yoon-seok; Pepsy, the safecracker, was played by Kim Hye-soo, one of South Korea’s finest actresses; Lee Jung-jae as Popeye; Jun Ji-hyun as Yenicole; Kim Soo-hyun as Zampano; Kim Hae-sook, the nation’s beloved mother, as the chewed gum; Oh Dal-su as Andrew; and the other Chinese thieves were passionately portrayed by Im Dal-hwa, Chinese Sang, and Lee Sin-je. I think it might be one of the most outstanding films in the Korean film industry, just based on the casting alone.  The direction is by director Choi Dong-hoon, who directed my all-time favorite films, "Tazza" and "Assassination." 

3. What to watch for 
Since all of Korea’s top actors are gathered, I think their acting chemistry and acting showdown might be the first thing to watch.  Especially with the romantic love triangle involving Kim Yoon-seok, Kim Hye-soo, and Lee Jung-jae, it’s also worth checking out the heart-wrenching love scenes between Kim Yoon-seok and Kim Hye-soo, which are rarely seen in the usual dramas. Also, Jun Ji-hyun’s flavorful acting and her chemistry with Kim Soo-hyun are very good. On top of that, Oh Dal-su’s unique comedic character adds fun throughout the film.  And as a special guest appearance, Shin Ha-kyun makes a brief appearance, and although it’s a very short scene, his unique acting captures everyone’s attention. 

4. Personal review
I think the movie The Thieves is like a department store because it’s so good.  I think it’s a film that has it all—from the plot and casting to the score and direction.  I thought the story, in particular, with its twists upon twists, made the long runtime far from boring.  Personally, I’ve liked actor Kim Yoon-seok since the movie "Tazza," so I really enjoyed how the film was driven by him as the central figure, and I think Jun Ji-hyun’s natural, effortless acting served as the film’s supporting spice. There were also criticisms that it imitated the movie Ocean’s Eleven, but although the overall motif is similar, after watching the film, I think that idea disappears and only the fun remains. It’s especially good to watch alone, but I think it becomes even more fun when you watch it with friends on a big TV screen.  If you’re looking for an entertaining and well-made feature film, I recommend the movie "The Thieves."

A Korean Monster Thriller Movie 'The Host'

I don't really like movies that feature non-existent entities. However, the movie "The Host" was a film that completely changed that idea. It’s partly because it’s a film by director Bong Joon-ho, whom I admire, and partly because the monster’s appearance wasn’t overly childish.  1. The Plot  By the peaceful Han River riverside, Park Hee-bong, who runs a convenience store, and Park Kang-du, who helps his father, were spending time as usual. If I had to pick the hottest male actor in South Korea these days, I think it would be actor Park Jung-min. At a domestic film festival, he thrilled many female fans with a collaborative stage performance with singer Hwasa, and today I’d like to review his romance film, Miracle.  1 .
